Tiel is largest city in the Betuwe area. The old centre holds monumental buildings from former glory days and is famous for its fruits production. Tiel is an excellent base to explore the Betuwe orchards in bloom. In September, the city is the stage for the largest free pop music festival in The Netherlands: Appelpop, as well as for a flower parade.

There are plenty of places to eat in Tiel. The largest range of the hospitality industry can be found on the Plein. At this location, near the Waterpoort and the Flipje museum, there is a variety of catering establishments: cafes, restaurants, lunchrooms, bistros, terraces, etc.
