Koole is an independent international storage and transport company specialising in vegetable oils and fats, oleochemicals, waxes, biodiesel, base oils, non-hazardous chemicals and minerals. The Koole company began in 1943 as a one-man operation. Cornelis Koole Sr. transported oils and fats from Schipluiden (Netherlands) in a small 40-tonne barge.

In order to expand to handle its increase in business, Koole moved to Wormerveer in 1957. There, in the vicinity of the river Zaan and close to the food industry, the company continued to flourish. This ultimately led to the development of two other locations in the Netherlands: At Pernis (near the Port of Rotterdam) and Nijmegen (close to the German border).

Koole provides a wide range of ancillary services, including blending, mixing, heating, temperature control and quality control. In 2018 the company has major storage facilities sited strategically at five locations in the Netherlands, two in the UK and one in Poland. With a total capacity over 2,000,000 cubic metres. Koole ships liquids in its fleet of 12 barges and three coasters. Two tanker trucks handle transport by road. Some locations also provide railway terminals for loading and unloading oils and fats.
