Schenkerij De Teerkamer in Woudrichem was a beloved meeting place and cultural café that played a lively role in the local community for twenty years. It hosted live music, cultural events, and was home to the Woerkums Literary Café, where writers like Frank Westerman and Nico Dijkshoorn performed.
In August 2014, owner Ronald de Vries decided to close De Teerkamer after twenty years, partly due to declining visitor numbers and changing nightlife patterns in the region. Since then, the building at Vissersdijk 35a in Woudrichem is no longer used as a hospitality venue. The literary evenings of the Woerkums Literary Café have since moved to other locations, such as ‘t Kruithuis Arsenaal and the community center De Bolderik in Sleeuwijk.
